Holy Saturday in Hempstead, NY

For the second year in a row, members of the Cathedral Church of the Intercessor gathered with others on Holy Saturday in front of the Planned Parenthood facility in Hempstead, NY to offer prayers of committal for those who had been and are being slaughtered inside.  Bishop Craig Bates led the service, accompanied by Frs. David Klampert, Joseph Ciccarello, Mark Kiesel, and Joseph Barlin.  This gathering was one of many similar gatherings around the country, inspired by Canon Terry Gensemer, director of CEC for Life.  The service conducted was solemn and non-confrontational, but it did seem to make some on the other side of the fence nervous.  Police cars made appearances quite frequently during the service, which lasted less than an hour.  We joined a group of people, including members of our own congregation, who are there on a regular basis every Saturday, praying for the end of abortion in our land.
